Gyumri – the city of death. You could call this city like this when you look back at Gyumri’s history. In 1988 it was struck by a massive earthquake that almost wiped the city off the map. It is estimated to have a magnitude of 7, 2 on the Richter scale and the unofficial statistics say it killed 70 thousand people. People lost not only their families but also their homes. Despite all that some people decided to remain in the city and now they live in terrible conditions. I photographed the lives of those people. I documented the lives of people who managed to reconcile themselves to their fate and decided to believe in better tomorrow.
Still believe
